Overview
The DDA is working to continuously improve Downtown Allegan to provide for a better community to live, work, visit and play in!
The DDA accomplishes this objective by serving in the following areas:
Consumer Marketing
The Allegan DDA actively markets the entire downtown area to its local and regional markets through the free retail brochures, Only One Allegan Campaign, event sponsorship and day-to-day interaction.
Downtown Beautification
The DDA has designed, placed and planted more than 60 planters in the DDA district. From landscaping to lampposts, the DDA works continually to improve the physical design of downtown Allegan. Signage improvements continue to be a priority. The DDA has also recently been in the process of enhancing and expanding the downtown boardwalk and the restoration of historic buildings.
Business Recruitment
The DDA assists potential developers and new businesses in appreciating the benefits of doing business in Allegan and works with other economic development organizations to help place new industry downtown such as the development of the new restaurant on the riverfront.
Events
The DDA is sponsor and organizer of the Allegan Farmers Market, which brings locally grown, fresh produce to the area. Each holiday season, the DDA works to “Make Spirits Brighter” by hosting horse drawn carriage rides, Christmas Parade and other holiday events.
In addition to the Farmers Market, the DDA also collaborates with event organizers of Art Hop, Allegan County Fair, July 3 Jubilee, the Riverfront Art Fair and more local events. |
